New Year Resolutions

My resolutions this year all have a theme, and that is that everything I do, even more so than now, I will do for you...

• I promise to put your first above all else, no matter what
• I promise to leave this year behind me and not let it darken the year to come
• I promise to be more of myself and not the person I think I should be
• I promise to try and relax more and not take myself and life so seriously
• I promise to try and have the grace to accept the things I cannot change and have the strength to change the things I can
• I promise to stand by you and support you, to see to your every need
• I promise to tell you every day how much I love you and how wonderful you are
• I promise to try and make our dreams become reality and not let things stall us any longer

I will try my best with all these things and build us a future that we can touch, not that we can only dream about.  I might fail and I might lose track of these things but with your help I will find my way back because I know that you believe in me.

You mean the world to me and this year my main goal will be to show you how much you mean to me so that you never feel insecure again.

Happy new year my darling, may it bring you all the things you wish for and more.

2010

I am sure you are as happy as I am to be seeing the back of 2010, although there have been some amazing parts, the highlight for me was getting engaged to you, the love of my life, you completed me and made me the happiest person alive.  Things haven't all been so bad:

• You graduated with amazing school grades, which I am so proud of you for
• I finally quit smoking once and for all
• We have finally got somewhere with training our puppy so she isn't a monster any more
• I can now speak more Swedish (finally!)
• We have had our first holiday abroad together
• We took the first steps to becoming a proper family by getting engaged
• We stuck together and grew stronger through some of the hardest times I have ever had to face
• We had a visit from my Mum, which we thought would never happen
• With my house on the market we are on our way to breaking the shackles to my old life so we can move on
• We fell even more deeply in love than ever

I am sure there are more things but these are the ones that stand out for me.  With this year behind us and us standing stronger than ever then next year can be nothing but better, out with the old and in with the new.  Thanking you for sticking by me and believing in us my darling, I could not have got through this year without you by my side and I will be forever grateful.  Tonight I will be raising every glass to you: my love, my best friend, my fiancé, my princess, my world - because I really do love you more than chocolate.

I just wanted to thank you for one of the best Christmas' I have ever had.  You have spoilt me thoroughly not only with gifts but with love and laughter and happiness too.  I am so lucky to have you and that will always be the most precious gift of all.

I am so happy and privileged that I get to spend every Christmas for the rest of my life with you, that will make all my Christmas wishes come true.

I love you darling, with all of my heart, here is to an amazing new year.

A perfect moment

I thought I would share with you what my all time favourite date has been so far.  Not that every date hasn't been amazing and I have of course loved every single one but this one will always stand out in my heart as it was on this date that I knew there was no where else I would rather be or anyone else I would rather be with than wherever you were for the rest of my life.

It was on Wednesday 25th April 2007 during my first ever trip to Umeå.  We had met in person for the first time only a week before and I already knew I was pretty hooked.  You suggested we go and make a fire and we bought some marshmallows from the candy shop on our way.  We walked to a lovely secluded spot which to me just looked like heaven.  It took us ages to get a fire going but I refused to give up and eventually as the sun was setting the fire started not only in the fir pit but deep in my soul.  We had our marshmallows, not all of them ended up in our mouths if you recall and then afterwards we just sat in each others arms and watched the beautiful colours of the sky over Nydala...a truly perfect moment.

It was at that moment I knew that this was special, that I would be coming back to Sweden someday and that it was you who I was destined to be with for all time.  I knew it was you who I wanted to grow old with and have a family with, it was you who I would give my heart to wholly and unconditionally for the rest of my days.

 

For such a simple date it was the most perfect date in the world to me.  I can still hear the crackle of the fire as I held you in my arms to keep us warm and the feeling that I never wanted that moment to end.

You hear people talk of a perfect moment when everything in life just feels right, for me I think this was my first of many and I have you to thank for that.  During that date I gave you my heart and I never want to take it back.

Have you ever...

Have you ever looked at someone and felt happiness run through your veins?

To have the vision of that person fill every pore of your being and bring you contentment and excitement you have never felt before.

To know that there is nothing you would not do for this one person, nothing you wouldn’t conquer or no foe to overcome.

Have the feeling that you will never be alone even when there is no one around, to close your eyes and feel their hand in yours, their arms round you, their breath on your cheek.

Have you ever taken time to just stop the world when you look into their eyes?

There is not another thing in the world that means as much to you as that person.

You could spend a lifetime looking at nothing but the eyes and you see more than their beauty looking back.

Have you ever let anyone into your soul? Has anyone let you into theirs?

To look and to see so much more, to feel their feelings, their thoughts, their dream is a truly remarkable thing.

Feel the hope and the fears and know everything will be just fine, know that this person has chosen you as you have chosen them to be with entirely forever.

Have you ever seen your future looking back at you?

Seen your feelings reflected, your adoration shared and sent back to you repackaged and multiplied.

To know that this is who and what you want for the rest of your life is something that should be treasured, a wonderfully perfect moment.

See your life fall into place when everything seems so up in the air, have one strand of certainty that fills up the empty spaces and mends all the broken spirits.

Have you ever truly loved and been loved the same way in return?
